AN ACT TO MAKE IT LAWFUL TO TAKE FOXES AND WILDCATS IN GRAHAM COUNTY AT ANY TIME, AND TO PROVIDE FOR PAYMENT OF BOUNTIES FOR THE SCALPS OF SUCH ANIMALS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. Notwithstanding any provisions of the Game Laws of North Carolina, or any regulations pertaining to the taking of foxes and wildcats, it shall be, from and after the date of ratification of this Act, lawful to hunt, pursue, trap, shoot or otherwise take foxes and wildcats within the boundaries of Graham County, at any time and by any method except through the use of poisons.

Sec. 2. The Board of County Commissioners of Graham County are hereby authorized to pay from the general fund of the said county a bounty not to exceed one dollar and fifty cents ($1.50) for each fox scalp, and a bounty not to exceed three dollars ($3.00) for each wildcat scalp, when such scalps shall be presented to them together with an affidavit made by the person claiming the bounty. Such affidavit shall contain the sworn statement of the claimant that the fox or wildcat from which the scalp was removed was taken by means other than by poisoning, and was taken within the boundaries of Graham County. Anyone making a false affidavit in the presentation of a claim for a bounty shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined not more than one hundred dollars ($100.00) or imprisoned not more than six months. Each such false affidavit presented shall constitute a separate offense for the purpose of this Act.

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
