AN ACT RELATING TO THE APPOINTMENT AND TERMS OF OFFICE OF THE CITY OF WILSON RECREATION COMMISSION.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. G. S. 160-161, as the same appears in Volume 3C of the General Statutes of North Carolina, is amended by adding at the end thereof the following:

"The Board of Commissioners of the City of Wilson may appoint a Recreation Commission consisting of six members, one of whom is to be selected chairman of the board by its members; provided, that the City Board of Commissioners may appoint ex officio members in accordance with the provisions of G. S, 160-161. The terms of office of the present members shall expire on January 1, 1962, or until their successors are appointed and qualify. The board of commissioners shall at its regular meeting in December, 1961, appoint two members to serve for a term of one year, two members to serve for a term of two years and two members to serve for a term of three years, said terms to begin January 1, 1962. Each year after 1961, the board of commissioners shall appoint two members of the Recreation Commission who shall serve for a term of three years, which term shall begin January 1st of the ensuing year. A member serving a three-year term shall not be appointed to succeed himself."

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
