HOUSE BILL 557

AN ACT RELATING TO THE NUMBER AND TERMS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GRAHAM COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION.

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

Section 1. G. S. 115-19 is hereby amended by adding at the end thereof the following:

"In 1966 and quadrennially thereafter three members of the Graham County Board of Education shall be nominated in the primary election, and the nominee receiving the highest number of votes shall be the nominee for chairman of the board. Nominees may reside anywhere in the county and all shall be voted on by all of the voters of the county at large."

Sec. 2. This Act shall apply to Graham County only.

Sec. 3. Chapter 85 of the Session Laws of 1959 and all other laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall become effective upon its ratification.
