AN ACT TO FIX THE TERMS OF OFFICE OF MEMBERS OF THE MACON COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. G. S. 115-19 be and the same is hereby amended by adding at the end thereof the following:

"Provided that in Macon County, in the Primary Election of 1966, the candidate receiving the highest number of votes shall be nominated for a term of six (6) years; the candidate receiving the next highest number of votes shall be nominated for a term of four (4) years; and the candidate receiving the next highest number of votes shall be nominated for a term of two (2) years. After the expiration of the terms of office of each of the members nominated in the 1966 Primary and appointed by the 1967 General Assembly, the terms of office of all members of the Macon County Board of Education shall be for six (6) years."

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
