AN ACT TO INCREASE THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF STOKES COUNTY FROM THREE TO FIVE MEMBERS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

Section 1. G. S. 153-5 is hereby amended by inserting the word and punctuation "Stokes," immediately following the word and punctuation "Sampson," in line 7 thereof.

Sec. 2. The provisions of Section 1 of this Act shall apply to the primary nomination and general election of members of the Board of County Commissioners of Stokes County in 1966 and thereafter, and until the total authorized membership of the board of county commissioners consisting of five members shall have been duly elected at the general election of 1966, and shall qualify and take office along with other County Officers of Stokes County as otherwise provided by law, the membership of the County Board of Commissioners of Stokes County shall consist of three members as at present.

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act to the extent of such conflict only are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall become effective upon its ratification.
