AN ACT AUTHORIZING COUNTIES WHICH INSTALL A MODERN LOOSE LEAF REGISTRATION BOOK SYSTEM OF VOTERS TO EXTEND THE REGISTRATION PERIOD FOR A LIMITED TIME.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. If prior to January 1, 1970, a new county-wide registration of all voters is ordered by the county board of elections, by reason of the adoption of a modern loose leaf registration book system of voters, as authorized by Chapter 163 of the General Statutes of North Carolina, the registration books shall be opened for the registration of qualified persons as provided in G. S. 163-67, and, additionally, the county boards of elections may begin the registration of voters in the office of said board, immediately after the modern loose leaf registration book system has been installed with the approval and in accordance with the rules and regulations of the State Board of Elections.

Sec. 1 1/2. Provisions of this Act shall apply only to Buncombe and Lincoln Counties.

Sec. 2. This Act shall be null and void after January 1, 1970.

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
