AN ACT TO MAKE G. S. 160-181.2 APPLICABLE TO THE TOWNS OF HILLSBOROUGH AND MEBANE AND TO EXPAND THE ZONING AUTHORITY OF THE TOWN OF MEBANE.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. G. S. 160-181.2, as the same appears in the 1965 Supplement to 1964 Replacement Volume 3D of the General Statutes, is hereby amended by striking out of the fifth line of the last paragraph thereof the word "Orange".

Sec. 2. In addition to the authority granted by G. S. 160-181.2, the Town of Mebane is hereby authorized to exercise all the zoning powers granted by Article 14, Chapter 160, of the General Statutes in that area outside its corporate limits within Orange County lying beyond the extraterritorial zoning boundary authorized by G. S. 160-181.2, which area is described as follows:

BEGINNING at a point in the center of N. C. Railroad, said point being approximately 800 feet West of the point where the center line of N. C. Public Road 1373 intersects the said railroad (said N. C. Public Road 1373 being the road which connects N. C. Public Road 1302 and N. C. Highway No. 70-A); running thence with the center of N. C. Railroad, in a southeasterly direction, for an approximate distance of 4800 feet to a point where the center of said N. C. Railroad and N. C. Public Road 1114 intersect; running thence with the center of said N. C. Public Road 1114, in a southerly direction, approximately 2040 feet to a point where the center of N. C. Public Road 1114 and Interstate Highway No. 85 intersect; thence with the center line of the median of Interstate Highway No. 85 in a westerly direction approximately 7200 feet to the Town of Mebane's extraterritorial line (said point being approximately 1200 feet West of N. C. Public Road 1302 where it crosses Interstate Highway 85); running thence with the extraterritorial line of the Town of Mebane in a northeasterly direction approximately 5025 feet to the BEGINNING.

Sec. 3. It is the intention of this Act that the powers granted to any municipality by this Act or by G. S. 160-181.2 shall be in addition to and supplementary to any similar powers granted in any other law, general or local, and not in substitution therefor.

Sec. 4. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 5. This Act shall be effective upon its ratification.
