SENATE BILL 567

 

 

AN ACT TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR COMPLETION OF A CHAPEL AT THE NORTH CAROLINA SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF IN MORGANTON.

 

Whereas, the 1969 Session of the General Assembly appropriated $50,000 to construct a chapel at the North Carolina School for the Deaf in Morganton, North Carolina; and

Whereas, friends of the school and thousands of citizens from throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia have contributed another $120,000; and

Whereas, the total cost for building this nondenominational chapel for the 618 children at the School is $200,000; and

Whereas, only $30,000 is needed to complete this goal; Now, therefore,

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  There is hereby appropriated to the North Carolina School for the Deaf at Morganton the sum of $30,000 in addition to all other sums appropriated in the 1971-73 biennium for the purpose of completing construction of a chapel for students.

Sec. 2.  This act shall become effective July 1, 1971.

In the General Assembly read three times and ratified, this the 20th day of July, 1971.
