AN ACT TO PROHIBIT THE TAKING OF AMERICAN ALLIGATORS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  Subsection (d) of G.S. 113-102 as contained in Volume 3A of the General Statutes is hereby amended by rewriting the last sentence thereof to read as follows:

"It shall be unlawful to take or possess American alligators or their eggs at any time, except that any bona fide zoo, either public or private, may, under a permit issued by the Executive Director of the Wildlife Resources Commission, possess such alligators and eggs for purposes of display and/or propagation."

Sec. 2.  All laws and clauses of laws, including Section 1 1/2 of Chapter 904 of the Session Laws of 1965, which are in conflict with this act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3.  This act shall become effective on September 1, 1971.
