SENATE BILL 710

 

AN ACT TO CHANGE THE FORM OF GOVERNMENT OF THE TOWN OF STONEVILLE TO COUNCIL-MANAGER, AND TO VALIDATE CERTAIN ACTS OF THE TOWN.  

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  Chapter 99, Private Laws, Extra Session 1920, is amended by adding a new section to read:

"Sec. 12.1. Council-Manager Form of Government. The Town shall operate under the council-manager form of government in accordance with Part 2 of Article 7 of Chapter 160A of the General Statutes."

Sec. 2.  Any and all official acts and actions by the Town Council and the Manager since May 18, 1981, but before the date of ratification of this act, which were taken in accordance with "AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE OFFICE OF CITY MANAGER IN THE CITY OF STONEVILLE, N.C. AND PROVIDING FOR HIS POWERS AND DUTIES", but which were not in accordance with the Charter of the Town of Stoneville are hereby ratified, validated, and confirmed.

Sec. 3.  This act is effective upon ratification.
