SENATE BILL 32

 

AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT IN ALL ELECTIONS WITH VOTING DEVICES REQUIRING THE VOTER TO PUNCH OR MARK A NUMBER IN ORDER TO CAST A STRAIGHT-PARTY TICKET, THE NUMBER SHALL BE UNIFORM STATEWIDE.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  Chapter 163 of the General Statutes is amended by adding a new section to read:

"§ 163-163.  Standardized straight-party designation.  In any general election in which voting devices are used upon which the voter must punch or mark a number in order to cast a straight-party ticket, the number used for each party shall be uniform statewide.  The State Board of Elections shall adopt regulations to implement this section."

Sec. 2.  This act is effective upon ratification.
