AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT A MAGISTRATE MAY ACCEPT A WRITTEN APPEARANCE, WAIVERS OF TRIAL, PLEA OF GUILTY, AND ENTER A JUDGMENT IN A LITTER CASE.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  G.S. 7A-273 is amended by adding a new subdivision to read:

"(9)      Notwithstanding the provisions of subdivision (1) of this section, to accept written appearances, waivers of trial and pleas of guilty in violations of G.S. 14-399 and enter judgments in those cases as the chief district judge directs."

Sec. 2.  This act shall become effective October 1, 1989.
