GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF NORTH CAROLINA

CHAPTER 401
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
Section 1. G.S. 14-115 reads as rewritten:
"§ 14-115. Secreting property to hinder enforcement of lien or security interest.
Any person who, with intent to prevent or hinder the enforcement
of a lien or security interest after a judgment or order has been issued for
possession for that personal property subject to said lien or security
interest, either refuses to surrender such personal property in his possession
to a law enforcement officer, or removes, or exchanges, or secretes such
personal property, removing, exchanging or secreting any personal
property on which a lien or security interest exists, after a judgment or order
for possession for that property has been issued, with intent to prevent or
hinder the enforcement of the lien or security interest, shall be guilty of
a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars
($500.00), imprisonment for not more than six months, or both."
Sec. 2. This act shall become effective October 1, 1989, and shall apply to offenses occurring on or after that date.
