HOUSE BILL 1744

 

 

AN ACT AMENDING THE CHARTER OF THE TOWN OF ROWLAND TO PROVIDE THAT TOWN ELECTIONS SHALL BE CONDUCTED USING THE NONPARTISAN PLURALITY METHOD.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1. Section 3.1 of the Charter of the Town of Rowland, being S.L. 1998-105, reads as rewritten:

"Section 3.l.  Regular Municipal Elections.  Regular municipal elections shall be held in each odd-numbered year in accordance with the uniform municipal election laws of North Carolina.  Elections shall be conducted on a nonpartisan basis and the results determined using the nonpartisan election and runoff election method as provided in G.S. 163-279(a)(4) and G.S. 163-293. by a plurality as provided in G.S. 163-292."

Section 2. This act becomes effective July 1, 2000.
