HOUSE BILL 1132

 

 

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE PAYMENT OF A per diem TO PUBLIC HEALTH AUTHORITY BOARDS AND TO AUTHORIZE PUBLIC HEALTH AUTHORITY BOARDS TO enter into installment contracts.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

SECTION 1.  G.S. 130A-45.1(k) reads as rewritten:

"(k)      Board members shall receive no compensation for their services, but they shall be entitled to reimbursement for subsistence and travel expenses incurred in the discharge of their duties. Board members may receive per diem in an amount established by the county commissioner members of the Public Health Authority Board. Reimbursement for subsistence and travel shall be in accordance with a policy set by the county commissioner members of the Public Health Authority Board."

SECTION 2.  G.S. 130A-45.3(a) is amended by adding a new subdivision to read:

"(a)      A public health authority shall have all the powers necessary or convenient to carry out the purposes of this Part, including the following powers to:

(18)     To purchase or finance real or personal property in the manner provided for cities and counties under G.S. 160A-20."

SECTION 3.  G.S. 160A-20(h) is amended by adding a new subdivision to read:

"(h)      Local Government Defined. - As used in this section, the term "unit of local government" means any of the following:

(13)     A public health authority created under Part 1B of Article 2 of Chapter 130A of the General Statutes."

SECTION 4.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
