HOUSE BILL 271

 

 

AN ACT to provide that the prohibition against carrying a concealed weapon does not apply to state probation and parole certified officers when they are off-duty.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

SECTION 1.  G.S. 14-269(b) is amended by adding a new subdivision to read:

"(6)      State probation or parole certified officers, when off-duty, provided that an officer does not carry a concealed weapon while consuming alcohol or an unlawful controlled substance or while alcohol or an unlawful controlled substance remains in the officer's body."

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective December 1, 2011.

In the General Assembly read three times and ratified this the 16th day of June, 2011.
