CHAPTER 1

HOUSE BILL 25

 

 

AN ACT RELATING TO THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE TOWN OF CHADBOURN IN COLUMBUS COUNTY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. At the regular municipal election in the Town of Chadbourn in 1965, there shall be elected a mayor and five commissioners who shall constitute the governing board of the town. In 1967, and biennially thereafter, the mayor shall be elected for a two-year term. The two commissioners elected at the 1965 election who receive the highest number of votes shall be elected for a term of four years and the other three commissioners elected shall be elected for a term of two years. At the regular municipal election in 1967, and quadrennially thereafter, three commissioners shall be elected for a term of four years, and at the regular municipal election in 1969, and quadrennially thereafter, two commissioners shall be elected for a term of four years. The mayor shall have a right to vote only in order to break a tie.

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall become effective upon its ratification.
