HOUSE BILL 838

 

 

AN ACT TO AMEND ARTICLE 6 OF CHAPTER 156 OF THE GENERAL STATUTES RELATING TO DRAINAGE COMMISSIONERS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  Article 6 of Chapter 156 of the General Statutes is hereby amended by adding a new Section immediately following G.S. 156-81.1 to be designated G.S. 156-81.2, and to read as follows:

"G.S. 156-81.2.  County Auditor or Accountant Serving as Treasurer. Upon recommendation of the Board of Commissioners of a Drainage District, the Clerk of the Superior Court of the County where said district was organized, shall order that the County Auditor or County Accountant of the County in which said district was organized, shall serve as Treasurer for the district until further ordered by said Clerk. When a County Auditor or County Accountant is appointed Treasurer for a Drainage District under the provisions of this Act, such funds that shall come into his hands belonging to said district shall be protected by the official bond that said County official shall execute in order to protect the County from his wrongful acts."

Sec. 2.  This Act shall apply to Hyde County only.

Sec. 3.  All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4.  This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
