AN ACT TO AMEND G.S. 97-99, RELATING TO THE CANCELLATION OF WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION INSURANCE POLICIES, SO AS TO REQUIRE THE CARRIER TO EFFECT CANCELLATION ONLY BY REGISTERED OR CERTIFIED MAIL.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  G.S. 97-99(a) is hereby amended by adding at the end thereof the following sentence: "Whenever notice of intention to cancel is required to be given by registered or certified mail, no cancellation by the insurer shall be effective unless and until such method is employed and completed."

Sec. 2.  All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3.  This Act shall be effective from and after its ratification.
