AN ACT TO APPOINT CERTAIN MEMBERS OF THE BOARDS OF EDUCATION OF THE RESPECTIVE COUNTIES OF NORTH CAROLINA AND TO FIX THEIR TERMS OF OFFICE.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. That the hereinafter named persons are hereby appointed members of the County Boards of Education for the several counties in the State as follows:

Alamance: Carl M. Sellars, Robert B. McQueen, Jr., each for a term of six years.

Alexander: W. Ray Lackey for a term of two years.

Alleghany: Clete B. Chaote for a term of four years, D. C. Bledsoe, Jr. for a term of two years.

Anson: Baxter T. McRae, J. P. Adcock, each for a term of six years.

Ashe: L. V. Ballou, Robert C. Barr, Robert R. Goodman, J. C. Little, Howard Reeves, Urcle Sheets, each for a term of two years.

Avery: M. S. Wise for a term of six years.

Beaufort: W. B. Voliva, Thad Tankard, Jr., J. Stancil Lilley, each for a term of four years.

Sec. 2. That the members of the several County Boards of Education appointed by this Act shall qualify by taking the oath of office on or before the first Monday in April, 1967, and shall, unless otherwise herein provided, hold office until the first Monday in April, 1969, and until their successors are elected and qualified, and together with the members of the Boards of Education of the several counties whose terms will not expire on the first Monday in April, 1967, shall constitute the Boards of Education of the respective counties.

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
