HOUSE BILL 534

 

 

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF PASQUOTANK COUNTY TO CONVEY TO THE MUSEUM OF THE ALBEMARLE, INC., CERTAIN PROPERTY ON WHICH THE MUSEUM IS LOCATED.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. In order to promote the best interests of the Museum of the Albemarle and in order to provide for its better operation and insure its perpetuation, and in order to benefit Pasquotank County, the surrounding region and all of North Carolina, the Board of County Commissioners of Pasquotank County is hereby authorized to convey without consideration to the Museum of the Albemarle, Inc., the one acre of land owned by the county, on which the Museum is situated, and which is described in a deed from C. P. Harris, et al, to Pasquotank County, dated April 11, 1949, of record in Book 136, page 213, in the office of the Register of Deeds of Pasquotank County, as follows:

"BEGINNING at a point on the West side of U. S. Highway No. 17, the southeast corner of a farm lane; thence along the westerly boundary of said U. S. Highway No. 17 North 46 degrees 30 minutes East 208.71 feet to a concrete post; thence North 43 degrees 30 minutes West 208.71 feet to a concrete post; thence South 46 degrees 30 minutes West 208.71 feet to a concrete post; thence along the easterly side of said farm lane South 43 degrees 30 minutes East 208.71 feet, to the point of beginning, and being tract of land on which the North Carolina State Highway Patrol is now constructing a building."

Said Board is also authorized to convey to said nonprofit corporation all right, title and interest of the county in and to the easterly one half of the farm lane along the westerly line of the above conveyance and of the northerly one half of U. S. Highway No. 17 along the South line of the above described property.

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall become effective upon its ratification.

In the General Assembly read three times and ratified, this the 28th day of April, 1967.
