AN ACT TO ALLOW THE CITY OF CHARLOTTE TO RELEASE ANY INTEREST IT AND THE PUBLIC GENERALLY MAY HAVE IN CERTAIN LANDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF PERMITTING THE KNIGHT PUBLISHING COMPANY TO CROSS UNDER THE SURFACE OF SOUTH CHURCH STREET FOR PRIVATE PURPOSES.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. The governing body of the City of Charlotte is hereby authorized and empowered to permit by resolution, ordinance, or other proceedings deemed advisable, or such papers as may be necessary, to release the interest of the City of Charlotte and the public generally in and to that portion of South Church Street between Stonewall and Hill Streets for the purpose of permitting the Knight Publishing Company to erect and maintain an underground passageway approximately twenty-five feet in width and extending under and across South Church Street, said passageway to be constructed and used and said South Church Street to be crossed for the benefit of the Knight Publishing Company, its successors and assigns, generally for its and their private purposes.

Sec. 2. The underground passageway shall be constructed and maintained in a manner to be approved by the City of Charlotte.

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
