AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 250, SESSION LAWS OF 1955, SO AS TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS IN PITT COUNTY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. Section 2 of Chapter 250, Session Laws of 1955, is hereby amended by deleting the following words in line three: "There shall be one Commissioner from District One", and inserting in lieu thereof "There shall be two Commissioners from District One".

Sec. 2. The additional Commissioner from District One, as provided for in this Act, shall be nominated and elected in the primary and general election in 1968, and quadrennially thereafter, for a term of four years and shall take office on the first Monday in December in 1968.

Sec. 3. In order to provide for the additional commissioner prior to the 1968 general election, the Board of County Commissioners of Pitt County shall meet not later than July 1, 1967, after the passage of this Act and shall elect a person residing in District One to serve as the additional Commissioner in District One until the general election of 1968.

Sec. 4. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 5. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
