AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE TOWN OF NORTH WILKESBORO TO CONVEY CERTAIN LANDS TO THE TOWN OF NORTH WILKESBORO.

 

WHEREAS, the Board of Education of the Town of North Wilkesboro is the owner of a tract of land located in said Town on which is located the Woodlawn School; and

WHEREAS, Woodlawn School has been closed and all students who formerly attended said school now attend North Wilkesboro Elementary School; and

WHEREAS, the Town of North Wilkesboro wishes to establish a public park with recreational facilities on the site of Woodlawn School; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Education of the Town of North Wilkesboro wishes to convey the Woodlawn School property to the Town of North Wilkesboro for public park purposes: Now, therefore,

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. The Board of Education of the Town of North Wilkesboro is hereby authorized and empowered to sell and convey to the Town of North Wilkesboro, without consideration and at private sale, that certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in Wilkes County, within the limits of the Town of North Wilkesboro, known as the Woodlawn School, and more particularly described as follows: "Beginning at the old locust stake at the northeast corner of L and Second Streets and running with the East side of Second Street, North 27 degrees 27 minutes 300 feet to an iron stake, the southeast corner of M and Second Streets; then with the South side of M Street North 62 degrees 33 minutes East 22.5 feet to an iron stake where the South side of the proposed extension of Boston Avenue cuts the South side of M Street. Then with the South side of the Boston Avenue Extension South 77 degrees 33 minutes East 488 feet to an iron stake in South side of Boston Avenue Extension; then South 12 degrees 33 minutes West 204.5 feet to an iron stake; then North 77 degrees 27 minutes West 162.9 feet to an iron stake on the South side of L Street; then North 27 degrees 27 minutes West across the end of L Street to an iron stake southeast corner of Lot 1 in Block 303; then with the North side of L Street South 62 degrees 33 minutes West 140 feet to the beginning and containing two acres. Being Lots 1, 2 and 3 and part of Lots 4 and 5 in Block 303 as shown on Trogdon's Map of the Town of North Wilkesboro, N. C., with enough unlotted land lying to the East of this block to make an area of two acres."

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
