HOUSE BILL 543

 

 

AN ACT TO AMEND THE PROVISIONS OF G.S. 10-9 RELATING TO NOTARIES PUBLIC.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  G.S. 10-9 is hereby amended by inserting the words "in the State of North Carolina" after the word "public" and before the word "shall" in the first line.

Sec. 2.  G.S. 10-9 is hereby further amended by rewriting paragraph numbered "(3)" thereof to read as follows:

"(3)      By the clear and legible appearance of their notarial stamps."

Sec. 2 ½.  G.S. 10-9 is hereby further amended by deleting the period at the end of the last sentence, and adding the following:

"and, provided further, that where a clear and legible impression of a notarial seal appears on an instrument, the same shall be deemed as valid as if a notarial stamp were used."

Sec. 3.  All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4.  This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after July 1, 1968.
