AN ACT TO AMEND THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF GOLDSBORO TO PROVIDE FOR FOUR YEAR TERMS FOR THE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN BEGINNING WITH THE ELECTION OF 1975.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1. The Charter of the City of Goldsboro, as the same appears in Section 1 of Chapter 69, Session Laws of 1973, is hereby amended on line two of subsection (a) of Section 3.3 of the said Charter by deleting the word "two" and substituting in lieu thereof the word "four".

Sec. 2. It is hereby provided that this act shall not affect the terms of the mayor or members of the board of aldermen elected prior to the election of 1975. The intention of this act is to increase the terms from two years to four years beginning with the Mayor and members of the board of aldermen elected in 1975.

Sec. 3. This act shall become effective upon ratification.
