AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE COUNTIES TO OFFER REWARDS FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO THE ARREST AND CONVICTION OF PERSONS DAMAGING COUNTY PROPERTY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  Article 2 of Chapter 153 A of the General Statutes is amended by adding a new section at the end to read:

"§ 153A-15.  Board of commissioners; reward for damage to county property The board of county commissioners is authorized to offer and pay rewards in an amount not exceeding five hundred dollars ($500.00) for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person who willfully defaces, damages or destroys, or commits acts of vandalism or larceny of any county property. The amount necessary to pay said rewards shall be an item in the current expense budget of the county."

Sec. 2.  This act shall become effective upon ratification.
