HOUSE BILL 148

 

AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 160A OF THE GENERAL STATUTES TO PARTIALLY EXCLUDE BRUNSWICK COUNTY FROM PARTS 2 AND 3 OF ARTICLE 4A, AND TO MAKE PART 1 APPLICABLE TO ANNEXATIONS IN BRUNSWICK COUNTY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1. G.S. 160A-44 is amended by adding a new sentence at the end of the first paragraph thereof, to read as follows:

"No territory located in Brunswick County may be annexed under the provisions of this Part by any city with a population, according to the most recent federal census, of less than 2,000."

Sec. 2. G.S. 160A-56 is amended by adding a new sentence at the end of the first paragraph thereof, to read as follows:

"No territory located in Brunswick County may be annexed under the provisions of this Part."

Sec. 3. Territory in Brunswick County may be annexed pursuant to the provisions of G.S. Chapter 160A, Article 4A, Part 1.

Sec. 4. This act shall become effective upon ratification.
