SENATE BILL 28

AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION TO PURCHASE LIABILITY INSURANCE FOR MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

Section 1.  G.S. 115-11 is amended by adding a new subparagraph (19) thereto as follows:

"§ 115-11(19).  Liability insurance. — The Board is authorized to purchase insurance to protect Board members from liability incurred in the exercise of their duty as members of the Board."

Sec. 2.  This act shall become effective upon ratification.
