AN ACT TO REQUIRE INDIVIDUALS ENGAGED IN COMMERCIAL FISHING OPERATIONS IN A VESSEL OWNED BY ANOTHER TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR COMMERCIAL FISHING LICENSES IN THEIR OWN RIGHT.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  G.S. 113-152 is amended by deleting the second sentence of subsection (b) thereof and by substituting in lieu thereof the following sentence: "It is unlawful for the individual or corporate owner of a licensed vessel or any persons with the authority to authorize the use of a licensed vessel to permit any individual who is not eligible to have the license issued to him in his own right to command such licensed vessel for the purpose of engaging in commercial fishing operations."

Sec. 2.  This act shall become effective upon ratification.
