HOUSE BILL 328

 

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MECKLENBURG COUNTY TO APPOINT SPECIAL PEACE OFFICERS WITH LIMITED JURISDICTION.  

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  The Board of County Commissioners of Mecklenburg County may appoint county employees as special peace officers who, after taking the oath of office prescribed for peace officers, shall have the same powers as other Law enforcement officers.  The Board of County Commissioners shall state in the appointment the portion of the property owned, possessed or otherwise controlled by Mecklenburg County in which that officer shall have territorial jurisdiction, and the officer shall have jurisdiction only in that area.

Sec. 2. This act is effective upon ratification.
