AN ACT TO ALLOW THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS TO ESTABLISH A SECOND OFFICE TO HANDLE ONE-STOP ABSENTEE VOTING.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  G.S. 163-227.2 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:

"(g)      In any case where the county seat of a county, according to the most recent decennial census is not the incorporated municipality with the largest population, and if the voter records are maintained on electronic data processing equipment, then the county board of elections may establish an additional office in the city with the largest population, which shall be considered, along with the main office, as the office of the county board of elections for the purpose of this section if on- line access to the voter records is available from the additional office."

Sec. 2.  This act applies to Orange County only.

Sec. 3.  This act shall become effective with respect to elections occurring on and after September 1, 1983.
