HOUSE BILL 506

 

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY OF SHELBY TO ESTABLISH, OPERATE AND MAINTAIN A PUBLIC MARKET.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  A city is authorized to establish, own, operate, equip, and maintain a public market, and acquire such land as may be necessary for the establishment  of a public market; and to appropriate and expend nonproperty tax funds for such purpose.  In lieu of the city operating such a market, the city is further authorized to contract with any individual, corporation, nonprofit corporation, governmental body, or any other group for the purpose of operating a public market.

Sec. 2.  This act shall apply to the City of Shelby only.

Sec. 3.  This act is effective upon ratification.
