HOUSE BILL 309

 

AN ACT TO INCREASE THE PENALTIES FOR VIOLATING ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTE.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  G.S. 14-4 is amended by deleting the words and figures "fined not more than fifty dollars ($50.00)" and by inserting in lieu thereof the words and figures "fined not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00)".

Sec. 2.  This act shall apply to the City of Charlotte only.

Sec. 3.  This act shall apply to the City of Charlotte only and shall be applicable only to those ordinances which expressly provide that the maximum fine to be imposed for violation is some amount of money greater than fifty dollars ($50.00).

Sec. 4.  This act shall become effective 60 days after ratification and applies to offenses committed on or after that date.
